shorts and a polo shirt!....Was the Polo shirt a Ralph Lauren? How about the shorts?
Did they match? if so...did you pick them out?

They had an Escort in the showroom? How did you know what the overweight salesperson picked out for you? Do you usually let people pick out your cars for you?

True story.

When I was in college in 1967 (am I aging myself here or what) I took a trip to Yosemite with a friend during spring break. We were on the road for a few days with no shower, no shave, no change of clothes, sleeping on the ground in our clothes. We smelled and looked like what we were.

On the way back to school, smelling and looking like grubs, we decided to stop at Estes-Zipper motorcars in Beverly hills where a nice yellow Ferrari 275 GTB/4 was parked for sale. I took the liberty to open the door and sit in the car. A salesman came up to me and asked if I was in the Ferrari market and would I like to test drive the car!!

That salesman probably had many grubby rock stars and movie stars come in and pay for a Ferrari with cash they had on them, so he didn't take anything for granted as far as what a sales prospect might look like.

I wish I had taken him up on the test drive!!!!

As a long time porsche lover/owner, I really never seriously considered vettes. But the newer direction that porsche has gone in the last 10 yrs and for the forsee-able future I'm very disappointed with their focus.
They really are resting on the laurels of the past racing glory days and exploiting the marque's cache in selling their products just as other brands are getting involved heavily in racing. Porsche's, superficial changes, minute increases in performance, cost containment in important parts, etc all in the name of maximum corporate profitability makes them no different now than any other auto company in their vision. Their soul is lost, passion gone.

That being the case, their reliance on blue sky with people like me to drive their sales is fast eroding and I view this corvette z06 with far more enthusiasm than any other product porsche has currently or in the near future.

Watt, I love it. We need more of this before Porsche gets off the butt of their past laurels.
