Default No sign of engine oil needed yet....

Thus far, with approximately 780km or less than 500 miles, I have yet to add any oil to my month and a half old GT3. I have heard from this forum and others that our cars burn oil easily especially during the break-in period. Is my car normal that it hasn't burn any oil yet (At least not anough to be detected by the on-board computer) ? Also, I've been checking the oil level via the OBC. Is this reliable or should I check levels the old fashion way? Any input is appreciated.

No oil burned in the first thousand miles here! (using OBC)

Accuracy of the OBC vs. dipstick has been discussed on this forum before. A search for "dipstick" should turn it up.

Cheers.

I think the norm has been very low oil usage. Mine used less than one quart in the first 1k, and little if any since. Some feel the computer does a better job at measuring, others, me included, use the dipstick. The GT3 Cup service manual says "The dipstick should be used to check the oil level."

No oil added between changes (3,000 miles) on either of ours and that includes plenty of track use.

I added less than a quart up to 1K miles, then changed the oil. Now at 3K miles, I see no need to.... Also, use the dipstick to check the engine oil level as directed.

I too have had no need to add oil after it's first change @ appx 500 miles, going on 4K, and dip stick range is fine.

i just read (in the manual) that the break in for the GT3 is only 1000 miles compared to the cars with M96 engines which require 2000 miles, thank god

About 250 miles and my gauge is two bars down from the top line. I did not think to check at the time I accepted delivery, but I'll watch it now. First fill of gasoline and all.....
