Saw these (CG-Lock) advertised in Sportscar they are supposed to allow you to tighten your lap belt very tight while leaving the shoulder portion loose as it normally would be. Claims to provide 80% of the support of a set of harnesses. Seems like an interesting idea, wondering if anyone has tried them or has first hand experience with these items?

I just bought this device to use last weekend at VIR during a PCA event. The device works well, as designed, and holds the lap belt portion tight. It does not compare to my 5 point restraints in my 944T race car. The upper body still moves around significantly in hard corners and braking. If you are not puting real restraints in, then the device is certainly better than nothing.

Theres another way:
Get your seat position.
snug your belt
Slide seat back or tilt backrest.
Grab belt at B pllar and pull quickley and engage pendulim lock
Slide seat forward while holding or leaning into locked belt
Belt will remain in locked position restraining lateral upper body movement and keeping you planted in your seat.

The method described by MJones is exactly what I do, and it seems to be the best alternative to harnesses. I did this for autocross in a BMW M coupe I used to have, and because the seats were so damn heavy, it would bend the seat rails by the end of the day. Luckily it was a warranty item! With the GT3, I've done it at several DEs, and I've noted no negative effects--
