Did your car come with a service manual? That's where I'd look.

Then wait for the car and the manual. You probably don't even have 12k miles to worry about this anyway.

No I don't but i was thinking about having the oil changed early since I haven't done it yet and since the 12k service is the first scheduled maintenance (if I remember right) I was just curious what additional items would be done. I think 12k miles is way to long to go on the original oil especially for a new engine.

The first service is 15,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first. At any rate, when your car arrives.

It wouldn't hurt to just change the oil shortly after getting the car. I agree that 15,000 miles is a long time to go between oil changes.

Yes, Viken already cleared that up above.

oops thanks, I believe that the factory has already done a breakin oil change at the factory. The customer break-in period is more for the rest of the car components such as suspension and transmission... 15K service sounds reasonable for normal driving (no track). If it needed it sooner then Porsche would have said so as they would stand to make more money with frequent service intervals.

I never thought about it that way, good point. I still can't bring myself to wait 15,000 miles though. I just had an oil change last week, and it had been about 8,000 miles. The used oil was totally black (not that its colour is the only indicator of effectiveness, but...). Keep in mind that my car is a 996 Coupe, not a GT3.

Amazing all the comments people want to make without answering the question.

Please post your manual part number and page where it says 12K, mine says 15K. I will post this info when I get back from some grocery shopping in my car. I remember 15. The first service, don't know what it costs, but includes normal stuff like on most low maintenance cars, nothing serious, not even spark plugs- its like the "A", really only the oil change. I believe break fluid is at 2 years. Remember that Porsches are designed for long life service intervals, unless the car is raced.

Hope this helps
