the wheels are 8.5 / 40 and 12 / 45 . Someone told me the fenders would need to be rolled. By the way, the car has ROW springs. So its 20mm lower F and 10mm lower R.

I don't believe that they fit. This issue was addressed about 18 months ago, so a search of the archives will help.
However, the fact that they don't fit doesn't stop some from trying to out-engineer Porsche,

GT2 wheels fit the 996 Turbo and C4S.
Same thing applies to GT3 wheels on the narrow body 996.
At last PDA track event in Pocono, there was a 996TT with GT2 wheels (8.5" and 12"). They are very easy to identify because the width and offset are printed on the wheel. He was on PSS9.
The issue with the rear GT2 wheel on the 996TT is related to the stock bulky springs not leaving enough room for the wheel. However with any coilover system the issue is gone. By the way, it makes more sense to upgrade the crappy suspension on the TT than going with the GT2 wheels.

I have a friend in the Bay Area who has a 2001 Twin Turbo with GT2 wheels AND 5mm Porsche spacers. The car is lowered with coil overs and he has no issues with rubbing or interference. I believe that he visits the Turbo Board so you may want to post your query over there as well.
