Default Considerations of GT3 as investment.

Hello everyone, i'm robert and i am new to the furom. I'm in college student at cal poly, san luis obispo, so i'm hardly on a GT3 friendly budget . . . yet :P Despite that, i was just wondering, how many of you took into account finance when you purchased a GT3? new cars lose their value very rapidly, and i was interested as to wether or not this was considered at all. also, out of curiosity, what do you guys do for a living? lol

Adrenaline is an expensive drug. Resale never was a factor for ne car I owned. It's the joy factor that counts for me : ). But gotta say the GT3 is a special car and if resale value is good it's a plus. If not wouldn't count as a negative because the joy factor accounts for 99% Still waiting : (. Regards. Mike

even the 93 RS America, which was not that special of a car, however limited numbers built, are still selling for 35 to 45,000, within 10,000 of what they were new. a lot of fun for the dollar!

Resale was not a factor, additionally if you track the car, the resale will be somewhat less.

Hi Robert, I am a Cal Poly SLO alum myself. There are some great driving roads up there!

Resale value is not an issue in my case, it's all about the fun factor. Although Porsches in general usually hold thier value well in comparison to other makes. Especially for low mileage cars. However I don't think there is any current Porsche that would be an "investment car". Especially if you drive it like it should be driven!

I wouldn't buy a GT3 or any car with real "investment" expectations (most are the mechanical equivalent of DrKoop.com.).

However, of the entire 996 line, the GT3 is probably going to be the most collectible. It was priced fairly by Porsche out of the box, received glowing reviews from the press (favorable comparisons to the '73 RS), and was built in small numbers. It will be prized by enthusiasts for a long time to come.

It was never an "investment" for me. It's the best, Porsche has had to offer here in the States in quite some time. If you want a good investment buy real estate but remember, "you can sleep in your Porsche but you can't drive your house!"

I think the GT3RS could possibly appreciate (if carefully kept and rarely driven - but what fun is that? )

with porsche it is not like ferrari, for porsche only very special cars, or Very rare cars with production under 500~ total units with the exception of the CGT, will experience appreciation, (Turbo S ? yesss~!)

otherwise, they are just like any other car except with slightly better depreciation.

cars are depreciating assets, and as such, a smart investor will not consider utilizing one as a vessel for making money.

Over the past 25 years, has there been a water-cooled production Porsche that really appreciated significantly?
