Gt3 Tsb #w414
This TSB affects a certain range of US and Canadien MY04 GT3's. I'll quote from the TSB: " Due to a software error in the DME control unit, it is possible that the DME control module changes to a limited operating program when driving in the lower part-load range in high altitudes."
There are 271 affected US cars and 15 Canadien. The VIN ranges for the affected vehicles are:
US: WP0AC29994S692066 to WP0AC29994S692357
Can: WP0AC29944S692072 to WP0AC29904S692294
Since I am not sure how the VIN numbering system works, Can someone tell me if my car is affected???
US VIN: WP0AC29934S692211
It doesn't appear to fall in the range from my guess, but I am not sure. Thanks.

There is an appendix "A" with all the affected VIN numbers attached to that TSB. I believe your VIN number is in there.

Interesting, David Murry in PCNA sposored GT3 had a power problem during the One Lap of America!
Check out the story:
The yellow Porsche, gleaming in the glow of a full moon, crests the Rockies at 11,397 feet, starved for oxygen to feed its fuel system.
Interesting how quick a fix they can come up with when your employed by PCNA, but most GT3 drivers are not driving from Vegas thru Monarch Pass either. The problem for David was solved by shutting down the car and restarting several times, as related by him as we spoke at my recent PDE
On a side note
Rockitman, when are you going to hit the track???

I tend to avoid my dealer with technical issues on the GT3...haven't had any, so I don't relish the thought of him playing with my DME on a car he has never worked on before (GT3's)...

I don't know about the heights, but I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. This is NOT a recall. Just a TSB instructing the dealers to flash the DME whenever an affected car comes in. If you don't live in high altitude areas, I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

When they do the reflash for software upgrades...do they need to remove the ecu or do they plug into the OBD2/CAN plug under the front dash and run the update that way???

Well, I fall into that range. Haven't really notcied anything in the higher elevations of Iowa... might have to make a trip to the dealer (160 miles away) for that and a new high tone horn, but it does make me a little nervous too as mine is the only GT3 the dealer has sold. Interested in other's feedback after having it done- is it worth the trip, etc. With the number of cars delivered, it must affect nearly half of them!
