Default Europipe

One very good system is made by Europipe: mufflers, pipes, and 100 cell cats for aprox. US$4000. High quality construction; about 20% louder than stock; a few pounds lighter.

I have heard of a titanium system that is something near 30 pounds lighter and costs around US$7000. I'd like to find out more about it myself.

I used the Europipe system on my GT3 and was very pleased with it and will get it again unless the titanium system shapes up to be a great product.

I suspect that you will get minimal engine performance improvement from any exhaust system alone. Even with tuned equal-length headers, you must calibrate Motronic and air intake to obtain significant changes.

I asked Europipe about making a titanium version of their product for the GT3. I got their response today.

They will not be making any such thing. Since stainless steel and titanium cannot be welded, they would have to add four flanges for couplng in the cats. Also, the mufflers would have to be some variant of the race bike type. I was referred generally to Japanese manufacturers.

George,

I was at Corsa yesterday. They had my car up on their rack, measured it and took photos, and expressed strong interest in doing a system. They were looking at doing both a short pipe from the cats to the tips and getting rid of the mufflers for an aggressive set up and using their patented baffle system for a complete system with mufflers.

They are backed up until this fall with GM projects and boat stuff so don't look for anything soon.

I'm selling my short pipes (Fabspeed muffler bypass pipes) for the GT3 cheap.

I'm also selling my Fabspeed sport mufflers for the GT3 (cheap).

I want to install a system just a little bit louder than stock (probably Europipe). The Fabspeed mufflers are ok but they sound like the factory Porsche Sport Exhaust which I consider loud.

I got the muffler bypass pipes to reduce weight (around 55 lbs weight reduction after the rear wheels) for track events. But the installation takes about 2 hours, and then 2 hours more to install the standard mufflers after the track day.

My car runs 88-89dB stock at Laguna Seca and so is just under the quiet DE day 90dB limit. I am not convinced the performance gain is worth the hassle of swapping the exhaust in and out.

jgerken,

I think the Corsa Titanium system will be worth the waiting for.
