Default Torque solution engine mount install

Hi all,

I have just fitted a set of new Torque Solution engine mounts and noticed the stud is a little bit shorter than the OEM engine mount. The nut is all the way engaged but only just, with no left over thread as you can see in the pic. I’m wondering if I have made an errror?

The mounts come new with the studs uninstalled, so before fitting the mounts to the car, I set the studs to the same length as the OEM mounts. However, when I went to torque the bottom nut, the stud went all the way home until finally the nut grabbed and torqued to the required 85Nm, leaving not much thread left.

normal?

Dont know if its right or wrong but from a engineering stand point if the threads r fully engauged then its as strong as it can be.

I'm hopefully reinstalling my engine later today, have the TS mounts too, I'll check them tonight or tomorrow -can't remember from before how much engagement

Thanks Rob. Lining up the square pegs was a bit of a pain! One side took a while to get right and at first went in slightly misaligned, resulting in the square hole of the carrier to become a little misshapen. However it appears the factory mount is not designed to precisely fit in the square hole so I don’t think it will be detrimental to function. The square bottoms of the TS mounts are oversized compared to the factory mounts and are a much tighter fit as a result. I’m not sure why they are designed this way as it appears the square peg is only for locating the mount in the carrier and has no bearing on performance. Once torqued up, the top and bottom fasteners are what is holding everything in place.
