Default GT2 Wheel fitment

Hi guys,

Yesterday I took the GT2 on my first autocross since installing R&T earlier this spring which was great fun.
Car also has no rubber left in the suspension and it felt really great!

Im however on wrong and tired tyres. Old Michelin 225/295 on Sport Technos due to a respray of the originals.
This meant trouble with under steer in tight 180 corners and of course trouble with traction with 600hp.

I was playing around with a set of Sport Classics in 9” ET52 in the front trying to see what is possible to place there.
First, they look great on the car but with 3mm spacers I’m like 5mm clearance between wheel and springs. I could spacer it out couple of mm more before having problem around the fender.

What do you guys think, with 9s how big is possible to go and is it risky beeng so close to the spring?

In the rear I didn’t try it out but I have the corresponding set of 10” Classics and they are short of 2” inches but would it possible to weld them wider or is this a big risk? I like ‘em a lot!

How wide tyres are you running?

Thanks!

Are you seriously asking if you can "weld" a wheel wider taking it from a 10" to a 12"????

Commonly done with fuchs in the 80's.
would not recommend it for track use.

For most - 9J up front seems to do it. Too wide and the inner barrel/tire will foul the spring/spring perch. 12J rear too seems to be the upper limit depending on final setup and alignment. Have to take into consideration the offset too. Too high of an ET will result in inner clearance issues, too low of an ET will require some fender work.
