Brey Krause fire ext. mount?
#16
My concern is a scenario where the car is on fire and you CAN'T get out. Probably not a high percentage situation, but we are trying to protect ourselves against as many things as possible.

my cup car ended up with 2 actaully
a hand held with in easy reach of the dirvers window (for me or anyone else who comes to the rescue if the car is on fire) it is mounted on the diagional behind the drivers seat.
and a second fully plumbed AFFF system with nozzels facing the fuel tank, engine and underdash areas - this can be triggered by either the driver, co pilot, of on the drivers side cowl. it is easy to disable for the street (covered switch inside the car)
me personally - Car on fire - i'm outta there - then push button - then grap hand held and worry about the car.
fires suck....been there done that (in a 912)

Point #1: I also have the SafeCraft bottle. Very pleased will billet hardware. BUT, the valve handle has some very sharp corners. Just from shifting around for entry or exit, it could be rough on the Achilles tendon if mounted in footwell. I rounded mine over with a Dremel.
Point #2: Seems to me that with GT3 seats (or other fixed-back type), mounting behind seat is No-Go. I like the idea of being able to reach the extinguisher while belted in, but I can't reach anything that isn't literally within arm's reach. Even under front of driver seat is out of reach. Since I don't want to drill interior panels, e.g. to mount on center console between seats, I guess I am stuck with footwell mount.
Point #3: Race driver I know says forget the bottle if you have a fire (unless you are trapped - guess I'll be unbuckling that harness mach schnell). The 2-pound bottle is only a "spritz" on a fuel fire. Might kill a small one before it gets big. Anyway, said driver said he would bail ASAP and get the hell away from a burning car. Just a point of perspective. In a sense, I carry mine for that other guy's fire.
