Default WTB 996 RS Wing

I prefer OEM gt3 rs wing as I track my pcar and could definitely use more rear down force in the high speed corners. I’ve already done adjustable shocks, stiffer springs and a track setup along with an upgraded LSD so last but not least us some aero.

Im in the same boat. Im guessing ill be buying a getty wing because i have not seen a factory rs wing 4 sale in the last 2 years. I did pic up a set of demon speed dive planes to add to the front aero.

The OEM GT3 RS wings are like unicorns. Forget about purchasing them new unless you are going to spend really big bucks. They do come up for sale from time, but not often. If I ever sold my 996 GT3 I would sell the RS wing separately. However, I am not planning on selling any time soon.

I recently purchased mine from this place in Belgium
https://www.9xxteile.com

They don’t have the carbon finish RS wing on their website but they do make it so just email for the details. I was very impressed with the quality and the pricing was very good. I couldn’t justify spending 4x as much for a used OEM RS wing with failing clear coat. My car will never be an RS, real wing or not.

That looks great! So it is ready to bolt on or you need to take it to clear coat the wing first?

It came clear coated. Ready to mount right out of the packaging (after screwing in the mounting brackets). The mounting brackets seem near identical to OEM too. @cfjan have you got yourself another 6-3??

I never got rid of mine (despite working oversea for the past few years)! Very little mileage being added to it!

My OEM RS Wing has mounting brackets that are riveted in place...I know this because one or two failed and the internal portion of at least one is loose and bouncing around inside the wing. So just for clarity... similar shape but not similar mounting style IMO.

Thanks for clarifying this, I did not know. Rivets at are perhaps a bit too weak for the amount the wing gets touched/leant on/yanked on?

…or run into.
I’ve done that a couple of times walking into the garage with groceries.
The first time felt like I’d been punched!
Mine is not OEM.
I don’t know the manufacture, but the underside is not Getty/MAShaw quality.
The top side looks great though.

As others people have stated the used OEM do come up for sale from time to time.

New one from Porsche AG is MSRP $9,820

.

Yes that hurts! I did that the other day. Yours looks to have the 997 RS style end plates and a different engine lid/uprights?

Correct, the deck is 997 style, along with the carbon fiber wing and end plates.

I ended up with 3 wings for my GT3 - the factory wing, a "factory like" carbon fiber wing with an integrated gurney lip, and a non factory RS style wing. I currently run the gurney but I can't tell you how much added down force I get.

Thanks for the comments, ended up finding one so will post pics as soon as it goes on. I figure if (which is a big if) I ever sell the car, the OEM RS wing/endplates will still have its value. I'm most interested in how it helps out on the track and will report back soon
