Thoughts on Upgrading Items......
What is the consensus on upgrading interior bits from "stock?" For instance, replacing a stock dash with a factory leather dash, something not easily reversible (I'd imagine). Could that have a negative impact on the cars value where originality is concerned? With my 964, I know the answer. However, this small batch, craft made GT3..... I'm not so sure.
I guess the original dash would be retained. So there's that.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Enjoyment/drive. Not flip.

I'd say do whatever makes you enjoy the car most.
In general though, a car in stock form will be worth more than one modified. For instance, I think if you swapped the dash over to leather, some would wonder why you did it, especially if only the dash was done and the rest of the interior was not made full leather to match. People may ask questions such as if there was an airbag deployment and you replaced the dash for that reason. If you wanted to just swap out your center console or add leather and you saved stock parts, then I think you'd likely be fine or the resale impact would be minimal.
Again, not everyone may think this way, I'd prefer Porsche buyers not to think this way, but unfortunately there's a subset that will not want a car that isn't factory or easily returned to factory.

Take a look at the BAT auctions and see some of the comments/questions. There will be a vocal set of people that won’t like it. To them I saw oh well. Enjoy your car how YOU want to, not how the next owner does.

Exhaust is my first project to tackle. Been doing some reading/research. Trying to avoid it, but may need to start an exhaust thread. Should I search the 996 forum for more info? I've only been searching here, pretty much.
I really like the stock wheels and they're pretty lightweight. Don't think I'll change wheels up, at least for the time being.
Like the wheels, the stock suspension seems more than capable, for me. BUT. I happen to be an OHLINS dealer (own a bicycle shop) and am pricing new suspenders out.

Hmm.. please send me a set of R&T at cost
edit: If I can get a new set of POS MI10 shipped for ~$2800 is that a good price? How much is left on the bone for the reseller at that point?
edit2: sorry for derail haha

I put the Ohlins R&T on my car and it is a significant enough upgrade over the stock Bilsteins. As they say, you don't know what you got until it's gone. In this case, you won't realize how poor the stock suspension is until you upgrade.

I have zero idea, at this point. My shop manager requested a quote last week and hasn't heard back yet, that I'm aware.
Not that it matters, but OHLINS North America is about 45 minutes from me. The fella that runs the place, one of his kids is a World Cup downhill mountain biker.

I am sure you'll get plenty of information on exhaust upgrades.

Performance gains are great. With the exhaust, not looking for very loud. Maybe something similar to the factory Sport exhaust on the later model 911's.

I am also happy with the ohlins R+T. That said I never drove the car with stock suspension so can't personally compare. I do wish that the front springs were a bit heavier.

Yeah...... that would be great. Would be nice if the 997.1 GT3 bumper were a plug and play for the 996.2.
