My guess is that the DME is the same as the regular GT3's, and there is some software available for download. BTW, EU4 is a level of emission standard, which I believe, is the latest.

Viken,

Since dealers add a programming charge and it takes about 1.5 hours, I suspect they do load flash based software. It makes no sense to have a different CPU board but the software could be different. What I find unusual is that the US version should make more power. Traditionally, the Euro models do better because the quality of the fuel is superior.

Unusual, it may be. But, I hardly think it is a true fact. All cars are tuned to run optimally with 93 octane (98 EU). As you say, our fuel is generally inferior or less than 93 octane. As such, it makes no sense for the US DME to be tuned for more power.

Hi Bob,

The GT3's dyno'd were all UK versions.

The variance between the RS's seems to be quite wide, my car is going back to be re checked now it has 3000 on the board and a staple diet of Optimax.

Watch this space for an update...

RS Thanks for the clarification. - around here most people find that the new engines take a lot longer to break-in. Dyno tests have shown a 10 HP gain after 10,000 miles on a 996. This has led to speculation that synthetic oil slows down the "honing" process. Of course we all hope it slows down the "wearing out" process as well.

The book covering the GT3RS is called: Service Information Technik 911 All Models 2004 and it is part number WKD 489 120 04. You may want to try ordering from a dealer to see what happens.

BTW at the same time I received another SIT on the 911 GT3 2004 which is number WKD 489 020 04. This book has nothing on the GT3 RS.

I have been collecting SIT's since 1975 and generally the cost is around $15 to $30

Thanks Cupcar. Called my dealer parts dept., gave them the SIT part numbers and he said they were not available, end of conversation...They are one step short of useless..
Called Suncoast and they said that they are not available via PNA but verified that the part numbers are valid, hence they are ordering me both SIT's direct from Germany. No indication on how long it will take to get them, but at least they are putting an order in. Now that's service...

Rgds,
I would never have thought, but coming up on 4k miles on my car, it seems faster. Unfortunately these things are so hard to tell without accurate tests and controls.

Rockitman-

I just called my local dealer and they are going to take a shot at ordering the Euro SIT's as well for a friend of mine.

Ed,

I have to agree with you, my car now feels (not the most accurate of measurements I know) quicker.

At Goodwood down the Levant straight both my car and Steve B's seemed pretty evenly matched. Only once I go back to G Force to dyno the car again will I know if I have increased in HP over the past few months.

To be honest though it could just be that I am more confident in the car now and it is an increase in corner speed that is giving me the extra boost on the straight.

Fun finding out though.

Service Information Technik 911 All Models 2004 - WKD 489 120 04
Service Information Technik 911 GT3 2004 - WKD 489 020 04.

Those of us here in the US looking for these books, I see they turn up on EBay occasionally, and yesterday one sold for $320, which seems a crazy price, ao I suggest putting an order in with Gert, as I have. He says he is awaiting the next delivery, and it may be easier to get them if a few of us are after them.

It is now, you can buy one from PNA, but you can't register it on the road, it is a track only car.

Macfly,

This thread is about the GT3RS (road car) that isn't available here, not about the GT3RS race car which can be purchased through PMNA.

Just got the word from my dealer on the SIT books and it is not good:

Service Information Technik 911 All Models 2004 - WKD 489 120 04 is no longer available, and that is too bad since it has the GT3RS information.

Service Information Technik 911 GT3 2004 - WKD 489 020 04 is out of stock, on back order with no ETA.
