Default Excellence article with Manthey Racing's GT3

FYI
Manthey racing was featured in Excellence.
They had a GT3, they performed some suspension mods, and engine mods, (headers, ECU, sport cats, etc 22 extra hp).

They also have a set of magnesium BBS Motorsports, not BBS, but BBS Motorsports wheels(he was adamant that their is a significant difference between the 2).
These wheels are 15lbs, the stock wheels are 25lbs.

Also I think the exhaust that Europipe uses was designed, or manufactured originally for Manthey racing.

I think those are the same wheels Cary has on his car.

Did you notice that it is called a GT3 MM throughout the article, but the sticker on the rear decklid says, "GT3 MR"?

Has anyone contacted Manthey about the price & availability of the BBS Motorsport wheels described in the article?

They had no pricing, but mentioned that they would only make about 20 sets. You are probably going to need to drop a bar of gold to get them.

Dear Philip!

Thanks for your email!

Yes, BBS is manufacturing the Manthey MM2 magnesium wheels which are the lightest 18" rims in the world! Costs are €1.550 (front) and €1.565 (rear).

We are not just the most succesful Porsche racing team in Europe (wins in Le Mans, Nürburgring plus 8 times Supercup champion) but specialists for GT2 and GT3 tuning. There we offer a wide range for these most sporty Porsche models, like engine kits (410 to 700 hp), suspension (Nürburgring setup), aero parts (carbon made; wind tunnel tested), exhaust systems, brake systems, transmission parts (aluminium short shift) and various semi race and race parts.

We have a dealer in Midwest or may deliver parts directly to oyu.

Have a great day!

Those wheels are tempting but have some limitations IIRC. A few more questions you might want to ask in addition to weight and price...

Do they recommend using those wheels on the street?
How often do the centers need to be inspected?
How frequently should they be replaced?

If, after all that, you get them I'd highly recommend the wheel insurance that's being sold now. Your local Porsche dealer probably has info on it...

Phillip:

Is that the cost for each front wheel and each rear wheel?

I mean is the cost of the set €3,115 or €6230 (USD 3,845 or USD 7690).

Anyway, it's a good deal, considering that it will 45lbs of unsprung weight which is the same Porsche accomplished with PCCB at a higher price.

What about starting a group buy to Manthey Racing to get a better price?

hre has come out with a line of light weight wheels, they are not as light as the bbs mag but for the money not so bad, if we could do group price on these that would be great.

Dear George:

Thank you for your email regarding HRE Wheels. The Competition series will be available for sale around the first of February. We will offer fitments for the gt3. As a guide, or test models are coming in at 18lbs for an 18x10 wheel. The 18x11” rear should be about 18.5 – 19 lbs. This excellent since these wheels will also be road worthy pieces.

Pricing is going to be from about $1100 per wheel.

Please call or email me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Guy AtheathertonHRE HREformance Wheels

18x8.5x = $1049 per wheel (Silver)
18x11"x= $1190 per wheel (Silver)

Add appropriate cost for finishes.

They will be available first of June,

Pictures are in the Excellence mag, i think the models are C20,cC21,CC22C
