I found the a052 to be very sticky right out of the gate but too hot and greasy after only a few laps. After 2.5 track days (10 sessions) I was showing cords on the rears. I don't autox but I imagine these tires would be great for that. They were excellent on the street, soft sidewall so relatively comfy.

I decided to jump into the deep end this year and went Pirelli Trofeo R's. Been running Cup/Cup2's since Day 1.
Hoping they live up to the hype.

Try the Nankang AR-1s. My son is using them on his S2000 and he thinks they are 1-1.5 seconds faster per lap on a 2 mile track over NT01s and he is getting a few more good sessions. He got 24 sessions out of the last pair of AR-1s and set a PB on session 22. I just put a set on my 997 3RS and found they are about 2 seconds faster than Cup 2s.

Didn't want to open up a new tire thread, but just a question: I've used MPSS's previously on different rims, and I've got Cup 2's on my Turbo. Both of those tires have been great. However, on my GT3 rims, I wanted to try something different and branch out a bit, and I've heard good things about the Nitto INVO tire. However, it looks like only make it for 295/35 for the 18 rears.

I guess my question is: is there a huge drawback to running a 35 height instead of 30?

Also tagging @2fcknfst for input.

Moving to '18's this season and I'm going to be running the 305/35/18 on 11" rears, and the 245/40/18 on 9" fronts. Lots' of stuff on the Forums about this. Lots of recommendations for this size for Nitto01's. So we'll see. More sidewall is a good thing in my research and what most race shops do. Just notice the tall sidewall on most race tires in IMSA, or any series really. We'll see how it goes. Fingers crossed.

12” is a much better choice for the 305/35/18 NT01. Stiffens the sidewall and improved response over an 11”

can be purchased online at Phil’s Tire Service.
My son ran Hoosier R7s on his s2000 this weekend and they were only .7 seconds faster than AR-1s. Similar temps and same track a few days apart.

Based on the feedback from this thread, I mounted a set of Nankang AR1 sized 255/35-18 F and 315/30-18 R before running Sebring a couple weeks back.
VERY impressed with their grip and consistency--overall my new favorite track tire.

As others mentioned they prefer low pressures, I started 24bs cold and ended up 32-33 hot but will go lower next time. The 315/30 on 12" CCWs was a bit stretched but I prefer that to 'ballooning'.

Ran consistent low 2:22s with a high 2:21x flyer and the car was not prepared 100%. The closest comparable I've ran on this car were Hankook slicks, which had higher ultimate grip, but not enough to merit trailering the car. I put almost 600 combined track/road miles over the weekend with the only tradeoff beingh the Nankang's road noise--super loud but worth it. Didn't skip any wet sessions (of which there were a few) and the AR1s were perfectly manageable--as opposed to NT01 which can be downright scary in any amount of water. These will not be my last set, that's for sure.

Thank-you for the informative post.
Any comments or observations on running the 255/35 over the "traditional" 245/40? Are you running the 255/35 on 9 inch rims?

Do AR1’s heat cycle out, or are they good to the cords like Nittos?

Ditto. There is grip to the cords, just not quite as much on the last couple of heat cycles.
