Default Insurance. How much?

How much insurance are you paying for the 04 GT3?

My insurance company just quoted me $5200 a year. Is that ok?

$5200/yr? Ouch! With my multi-car discount State Farm estimated $1500/yr for the GT3. Are rates really that much higher in NJ as compared to FL?

My wife 03 4runner V8 Ltd pays 1850.

I have a clean record. No accidents, no lawsuits, no point, 30+ years.

$620 per year. It is classified as a pleasure vehicle (fitting) for rating purposes. I qualified for this since I have two car's and my other is my daily driver and I am the only driver in the household. That's with maximum $250K/$500K liability limits w/ $1000 deductibles on comp/coll.

Liberty Mutual. I have been with them w/ no claims since 1989. Rates will be Georgraphically sensitive. Cali may be high...I live in Upsate NY. It's a very favorable rating territory.

Rockit,

Your insurance costs are amazingly low. My '97 993tt has been running me $2200/ year as a 4th car in the family, driven only by me and that is in low population density Northern Westchester(2 acre zoning).

BTW, I PM'd you with that track info from Deman's assistant( spoke to the previous event, but not necessarily the only place that he might use).

Yeah, I laugh at people when they try to give me quotes. After 10 years in the insurance biz(former career) I learned one thing...Don't move your insurance and don't put in any claims unless absolutely necessary. I had a deer hit my saab aero in 2000 and I paid the $2,500 to fix it out of my own pocket.

Saw the PM. Virgina is quite the cruz...does'nt mean I won't be up for it. It's just a long way to travel when you have no spare tires in the car and especially after being on the track. I am pondering the value of an open trailer to tow the GT3 behind the Cayenne for track events. By the way, I would be happy too help you out with any aftermarket installs you may decide to do when your GT3 comes in...ie seats, exhaust ect. Don't hesitate to call in the meantime if your up in the area. I'll take you out for a spin. I will also give you a buzz when I schedule a visit with DeMan in late March early April...

Chris,

I have not had a claim or a ticket in at least ten years, but I do not make myself crazy about the vagaries of insurance pricing. You must agree that it does seem pretty all-over-the-place to an outsider.

Thanks for the offer of assistance down the road on mods. It is sincerely appreciated and will no doubt be taken advantage of!

I just looked at the Summit Point website and it is indeed not the 3 hours that Rick's assistant told me that it would be from Nyack. It is near the Pa border south of the area between Lancaster and Harrisburg and represents closer to a 5 hour drive. I did not get the impression that this was the only track that they would use, but that it may be the most cost-effective. I hear you about such a drive after a track event, but it would be a caravan with Rick' s people which adds a margin of safety I guess.

I will call you should I be in the area and look forward to meeting up with you when you come down to Nyack.

I was just quoted $1300 with 500 deductible and $1200 with 1000 deductible from State Farm with reduced mileage (7500 yr). Now I just have to find a car.........

I was quoted ~$4,000 / year in Phila area and I'm under 25 and single. That sounds way too high. My record sucks too (tickets not accidents).
