GT3 today or 997 tomorrow?

I f the 997 is released this summer in the EU and next spring/summer in the US that leaves another part year or full year of the 996 in the US. If this is the case will there be an '05 GT3 or is '04 the end of the GT3? Anyone have any info?

bigsky: As others have posted in this thread nobody who knows is talking yet. Personally I'm thinking there won't be which is why even though I'm currently unemployed I still have an '04 GT3 on order (application of the "Buy it while you can" principle). As for the 997, I don't think it's gonna be next spring before we get them in the US as I here there's a training session for dealer in May.

If (HUGE WORD) and God forbid, you die tomorrow, do you die a happy person...in other words, live for today, get the GT3 and who knows what the future brings...just my $.10

MJSpeed, it's interesting that you put it that way. A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine died unexpectedly at age 43 (heart attack). I guess that situation has influenced my thinking.
From purely objective point of view, I know that buying a new car is never a prudent financial decision - but it's so much damn fun! And the GT3 looks like the kind of car you could keep forever.

I'm not a financial expert. But in the current Porsche line-up, I guess the P-cars to defeat depreciation the better in US are the Carrera GT and the GT3.
The GT3 is a bargain for Porsche standards.
I started to quote a new Boxster S, and the way I liked it was close to the 70k mark. I knew that in two years that medium optioned Boxster S was going to cost around 40k.
Then I decided to go with a brand new 996. C2, Powerkit, AeroKit, Xenons, Full Leather, Bose, PSE, M030. The car hit 105k. I knew that in 2 years the same car will go for 70k. This car is the closest thing to a GT3 without the brakes, trans and engine.
Finally I ordered a GT3. Full Leather, Xenons, Special Metallic Paint, Porsche crest everywhere for 110k. In two years that car won't cost 80k. A 2000 GT3 sold for 85k here in US recently (Midnight Blue). The extra 5k in the GT3 will save me 15-20k for not taking the C2.

In regard to Sloans 2000 Gt 3. I saw that car when it was being sold by the estate. As a matter of fact I bought my 94 S from the same estate. I hope Sloan told the owner about the body damage. Because Sloan forgot to tell a friend of mine about the body damage and subsequent repair sloan made when my friend called on the car prior to it's sale. I called to "remind" Sloan about it and indicated he needed to remember to tell people about it in the future. Hope he followed through on that.

too easy...get the GT3. having owned quite a few P-cars over the last 25 years, this is the one to have, and this is coming from one who just sold a '73RS. i would also echo the comments of getting the euro spec seats for the car....the US seats are inadequate.
