I'm trying to organize the west coast GT3 seat buy...

By-Design's info: 888-993-2911, ask for Sam and mention my name (Noel) and you are part of this group buy, then place your order. (also works if you're not in CA)

If you're interested please post here...

The whoe sale price on the GT3 seats is now around $1,300. What is the benefit of the bar from a handling stand point? With the increase in torsional strength does it increase oversteer?

Hey Richard,

Was great meeting up with you and Anthony last weekend - your car looks awsome!

I guessing the bar offers minimal noticable benefits to handling on a closed car, other than adding a little driver confidence. Did you notice any change in handling once you installed the front brace?

I believe that the front brace is somewhat redundant, since there are already angular braces in place from the factory, but I already had it anyway so I went ahead and put it on. I installed the GT3 seats yesterday!
The car was at By Design, so I went ahead and had them put in. It feels much more aggressive than with the sports seats. They were also recommending putting in the bar, which I am considering.

How was Willow? I wanted to go,but I got my a** kicked my the worst cold I can remember. There are a lot of open spots at Willow on 2/8th for $125, we are planning to go. Do you want to hook up for drive in the morning? Call me on my cell, or maybe I will see you at the top of Stunt. You know you really should get yourself a captain's chair or maybe a Lazy Boy for up there.

Willow was incredible, the car is awsome - you can almost hear Walter Röhrl himself speaking to you... "ja, können Sie schneller hier gehen!" Absolutely zero understeer, with just enough oversteer exactly when it's needed. The power is relentless, I was hitting over 140 on the main straight. You gotta go!

I'm hooking up with the Pelican Parts guys at 9am Sat outside the Gelson's supermarket in Calabasas, you should join us.

MeatlSolid, which car were you in, I was there all day today, though behind the camera and not the wheel.

CodeRed, what is event on the 8th, is it Comp Lic only, or an 'open' day for novices like myself?

It is an "open day", on either the 7th or 8th. However I just checked and it it is $350 for both days or $250 for just one. Only 12 cars a signed up for Sunday, so it is still a good deal for a weekend there. The site is: http://www.alltimeracing.homestead.com/ nice guys. I have had good times with them.

Hi CodeRed,

Just a thought from us over the pond. None of the people who set up our GT3's recommend putting a strut brace in as the chassis is plenty stiff enough as it's a C4 shell on the GT3. These guy's seem to know what's what as they are the top teams in the Porsche Cup over here. Better spending the money on a decent suspension set up with cornerweighting and ride height adjustments and a bit of camber. Mucho improvement on the track, especially when combined with michelin cup tyres or full slicks!!

All the best,

Steve

I agree, but since I already had a carbon fiber strut brace I am sure it doesn't hurt to add it on. By the way, I have a GT2 not a GT3. Both are already pretty adjustable right out of the box. I am considering a bar set up. I am going to burn up the sport's that came with the car then save the OEM rims for the cups due to the inherent strength of the rim for track days.
