Received word today that my order for a 2019 GT3RS arrived at the dealership on the west coast a month early. Bitter sweet really thinking that another GT3 will be in the garage. Did a black and white of my 2004 GT3 to set a vintage tone to somehow justify the new purchase as "modern." But I'm not quite yet feeling it. The new RS is probably going to be epic but I sincerely doubt it will be as connected as this car is. Sure it will be faster and demand my full attention but will it provide the same vibe?

It's ok to have different flavors / experiences, some days you might want tacos and other days you might like a burger. Both great choices.
See you soon.

Congrats on the RS. I picked up my plain Jane 991.2 GT3 earlier this year and the differences are wide and vast. 996 still harkens back to the old air cooled cars and as noted in the 000 issue, they really are a link to Porsche's past and somewhat present. Have to take the 996 by the scruff of its neck to really enjoy. The new 991.2 by comparison is a true super car. The power delivery, prodigious speed on tap and the modern NVH can be addictive. Don't drive them back-to-back as it makes the 996 just feel old and slow, which it is not. The newer car is 'big' and feels big, very un-911 like. If there was one complaint I had of the 991, that would be it.
Regardless would never sell my 996 for a newer car and thankfully I didn't have to. Both are wonderful cars, but too many years and technological advances between them for a true comparison.
Enjoy both cars as I do.

Absolutely beautiful cars! I nearly went with Guards Red on the RS changed to GT Silver with the Wiessach Package at the last minute. I'm right there with you on keeping the 996.

Its fun going back and forth and seeing the differences. Got a GT4 and drove back and forth with the 996 GT3...... GT4 went away. Now I've added an air cooled 993 to the mix and love the size of it, but each car has it's own purpose. Have driven the 991 GT3 and love them as well, but for different reasons than the 996, regardless as irresponsible as it sounds, having multiple cars and experiencing the evolution and timeless-ness of the 911 is defiantly the way to go.

Congrats on the new 991rs. I´ve spent a bit of time behind the wheel of the 991rs. It´s an amazing car. Very easy to drive at 8/10. And crazy fast around a track even at comfortable pace. To get the full potential out of the new car is just as demanding as our old 996s.

Congrats! They are both great cars. Enjoy your new ride and don't worry too much about the comparison. As a newly minted driver in the early 80's I remember talking to a guy that had a 356 convertible D. He bemoaned the new 911 super carrera (aka 911 SC) just did not have the level of driver engagement that his old 356 had and how he would never own one. Fast forward a few decades and both are highly desirable among drivers... A few of the lucky owned both and would give up neither.

You have great taste with the white. I have a 996 & 997.2 gt3 in white. The 997 is faster, more comfortable and over all better car...…….But I love the 996 more.
