Turns out that when I got my car, the PO had used JB Weld on one of the pipes (and several other places - but that is another story). Now my car had ~22k miles so not a lot. I had pinned the other pipes. Just tore the motor down, which gave me a chance to clean and pin the last pipe. The JB Weld had done a good enough job keeping things together and lasted 5-10 years, but it really looked awful. In addition, things also need to be really clean to have this work properly.

Any competent race shop that builds stuff will be able to pin or if they are good with a TIG setup, could weld them (I prefer pinning)

JB Weld, is an adhesive, similar to what is used on the original pipes.

Viper Bob is in Tampa, yes? That takes him out of contention for the job- too much brain damage would be incurred getting car to and from there to/from SE Florida. It's not like I can't find someone on this side of the state even if I have to ask Richard Danvers to come out of retirement (I believe he is in the Stuart area now, so not a big deal)

Exactly. One wants to re-glue the joint and prevent the joint from moving

here is a pinning alternative from ALA, All German Auto in Escondido, California

and here is a video of the installation

Guys, there is no need to re-glue these joints, esp if they have never failed. I also think knurling is fine, but not worth the trouble. Pinning or welding are your best solutions.

Porschedog: Orbit racing would be able to easily do this, don't know how far they are from you. If you are mechanically inclined, it is a pretty easy job.

Unfortunately I don't have the room nor the tools in my home garage to do this.
Riviera Beach is still a bit of a hike at 60 miles from East Hollywood. I have a list of local indys that I have used previously and no longer trust, so now I need to focus on any within 45 miles that I would trust.

I had it done on my 997.2 which looked have been tracked a few times before I bought it. It had 14000 miles or so when I had it done and couple of the hoses were so loose that it was just barely hanging on. So it seems age really doesn't matter. I did it before my first track outing with the car, as I did not want to be responsible for damage to my car AND others' if it came off on the track. I bought a set of pipe fittings from Sharkwerks and had them welded.

I got a quote from Roger at Orbit - $3,700 all-in to do the hose thing.

We changed the engine mounts to RSS (while we're there)...wow...car feels so much smoother, accelerates more precisely. Didn't think I'd notice, but even the wife notices.

I'm going to contact them and inquire about carrying their products. While not Safety stuff, I think some of their products would be good to carry.

Ray, there is no doubt that you know what you are doing.
but
Pinning only reduces likelihood of catastrophic failure, does not fix possible weepy / leaky.
IMO, if you have stuff apart and already have access to the joints, removing the pipes, cleaning, re-JB welding is 60 - 90 minutes well spent.

cheers
