I have basically zero play with Function First upgrade. I found the combo to be completely different feel that stock GT3 shifter and cables. It could be transmission related as well. Not enough seat time yet to be sure but feels like a different car now.

I had my factory cables break in a similar scenario. Installed the Numeric Shifter and Cables and wish I would have done it ages ago.

The 996 cup car cables are available. I just bought a new set from Gert at Carnewal. They came with proper ends, washers, and screws too.
Beware there are some folks selling nos cables that are of the opinion that they are worth around $1000 or more. Porsche recently re-released them, and they can be had for about $600USD.
