US spec GT3 ? for export to Canada
All the GT3's in the Toronto area were sold before delivery so i would like to buy a US spec GT3 to comply with Canadian Transport spec i would need the car to have a KH/M speedometer plus odometer as well as daytime running lights.
Does the US GT3 have the ability to manually switch to metric, on all corvettes you can switch back and forth so i was hopping the Porsche is the same.
Thanks,

Only mph listed on the speedo guage...digi readout also in mph....Snowed in right now so I can try to see if the digi can be switched to kilo via the on board computer...

SpectraG,
Then i would guess that the odometer will also change (by digital) to metric /kilometers manually with the computer, which really helps , does the dash dial gage speedometer change or does it stay with mph.
The other thing's i would have to address is
daytime running lights -conversion needed
Valid alpha-numeric 17 digit VIN -which i hope the US cars have
Infant restrain kit -not sure what that means
Child tether anchorage - does anybody know if the US cars have it
French supplementary restraint system label for airbags -easy stickers
Recall clearance letter
Manufactures valid statement of compliance label -there must be some kind of sticker on the car to comply with US requirements.
If anybody can help with the additional requirements that would be great.
Thanks again for the help.

I know the speedo dial only has mph values on it...no kilo marks. There are airbag warning stickers on the sun visors...
***17 digit VIN standard for US
***No infant stuff...There are no back seats
***there are warning labels indicating that passengers cannot be seated in the back
***Window sticker would have mfg compliance info
Hope this helps...
I would speak with a Porsche North America rep so see what you can do to meet Canadien requirements

Z06 - GT3's in Canada have an analog speedo in KPH. The digital speedo and odometer can be switched between US and Metric with the standard equipment on-board computer. Day time lights are a relay. Dunno if DOT will make you change the analog speedo... it is more than a dial change obviously.

Z06, If you are looking for a GT3.. i believe Weissach in Vancouver has one on order that has is not for anybody yet.. Call Bill Ryan at (604)738-3911.
I think the car is coming next Spring.. You could also ask them about the procedure to get a car from the states, they're quite experienced in that.

I enquired about this earlier for a friend, and I was told that the US GT3's could not be brought into Canada. I don't know why, since the cars are the same except for minor changes, which as you know can be done easily.

Here is a link to the requirements for bringing a car to Canada, on a list they include all 1999-2004 Porsche as admissible.

I was at the Porsche/Audi dealer today to pick up my S4 and i asked again about the GT3 no chance.
There is a used GT3 1200 miles different dealer they were asking
$175,000 CA about 20,000 over list, there is no chance i will pay over list for a new let alone used car.
US about $133,000
The Z06 when it first came out was the same thing and now they are going cheap, i think i will wait on the GT3 until things settle down a little, to much hype, i will keep my eye open on a US GT3 at a fair market value, the US is just a bigger market.
I called the office for importing cars we went over the details and it is not difficult to import a car, there were 50,000 cars imported last year and they expect that number to grow this year.
Thank's for the replys
