996GT3 Trackday wheels and CCW's
Hi All,
I am looking for a set of strong track wheels for my 996 GT3. The BBS E88 are very tempting but are also very expensive.
I agree the E88’s are probably the best looking but this is basically a straight trackday car so looks are secondary.
I’ve heard CCW used to make great trackday wheels but had some issues over the last year or 2?
The wheels will need to be 9x18 et42 and 11.5x18 et61 to run wider 255 & 315 tyres.
Does anyone here run the new CCW C10 (or C12, C14)?
Many thanks,
BJ

CCW now shot peens their wheels to relieve tension/stress in the wheel face. This in theory should greatly reduce the risk of any spokes cracking.
They were a great wheel before, and it seemed the only issues were with wheels well into their lifespan/use cycle.
The new ones should be even better.

I was a dealer for CCW about 5 years ago before they were acquired by WELD. They were shot peened back then. They were excellent wheels for their price point with C10 being the most popular one. The only downside was the constant complaint by track guys that they were notorious with tires rotating on the rims under track conditions, especially on high power cars. It didn't matter if you dry mounted tires on them, used hair spray or other tricks like 3M spray adhesive. They all did it to a certain extent which was aggravating. Some guys would bead blast them which helped a little. Bead knurling would have taken care of than problem but CCW never offered that. For this reason I switched to selling Finspeed and BBS Motorsport wheels which overall are far superior on all front but come at a much higher cost. I have not heard much about CCW since WELD bought them...

Love my Ccw's. 5 yrs old no prob. Also have 2 sets forgelines. One if the 2 piece wheels had to be fixed only once My one piece forgeline no prob.
I would recommend a good set of used track wheels would be worth the savings
good luck

Agree with John that the CCW rims were a PITA with tire slippage.
I have had good success with media blasting the vertical and horizontal section of the rim that contacts the tire.
The roughened area needs to be cleaned after three or four tires to keep it gripping.
