Question Re Pagid Green Pads

Question Re Pagid Green Pads
Greetings everyone. I don't want to stir up the controversy concerning PCCB's and which pads to use at the track. I've already decided to try the Greens at my TracQuest event at Infineon on Dec. 8-9. My question concerns use of the Greens on the street. I'm well aware that they're designed to work in a higher temperature range, and therefore aren't recommended for street use. However, I'd like to put them on and bed them in before I leave, so I'd like to know from people who have actually used them if they are "tolerable" on the street for short periods of time - like a week or less until I get back and put the Yellows back on. Put another way, does virtually nothing happen when you hit the brake pedal, making use of them on the street a ridiculously unsafe hazard, or do they just not stop as well?
Thanks in advance for your input.

Not my actual driving experience but...
To the best of my recollection, Roland Kausmaul told me that the difference in stopping differences from 200KPH, with the green pads and cold rotors, was about 3 truck (20 meters each) lengths.
His quote which I do remember clearly, as he was animated about it was "never on the street (green pads)"

Hi Colm:
Some quick math reveals that the difference from 120 mph according to Roland is >180 ft. That means the stopping distance is almost doubled. As bad as that sounds, I could probably live with it for the sole purpose of driving back and forth to Infineon because it's a straight shot. I'm still hoping to hear from someone who's actually used the Greens on the street for any length of time, but perhaps I'll be the guinea pig. Either way, if I put them on before I go I'll report back.

Todd,
I have used the green pads for a week before my track event. I did bed them in on highway 85. They are not great when cold but definitely tolerable. I was told they are very noisy but did not experience this myself. Hope this helps

Thanks, Arnaud. That's a big help! And, it's exactly what I was hoping to hear.
Back in April I rented a Chrysler 300M to use at a PCA event at Mid-Ohio. During my third session I literally melted the right front caliper seal (right at the end of the back straight, for those who know Mid-Ohio; boy was THAT fun!). The car has two independent brake fluid systems on diagonals and all of the fluid on the right front/left rear diagonal was gone, but I still had a small amount of stopping ability from the system on the other diagonal if I jammed hard on the brake pedal after it was "to the floor" with no hydraulic pressure. I literally had to plan stops from 50 mph about 1/2 mile in advance. I figure if I could live with that car in that shape for a couple of days, living with the Greens should be a piece of cake!

You're just jealous, Watt. It's the one thing you can't buy. Given how incredibly well the suspension is set up, it's needs to wind up in the garage of a driver. No poseurs allowed!

I don't need no stinkin' Viagra! I figure if you turned 1:50 in my [formerly your] GT2 on the big track at Willow Springs, it ought to be good for 1:19's with a non-poseur driving. That 12 year old can eat my exhaust!

I'd be happy to take you for a ride at Infineon, but how come you're not signed up to run? This is the first event you and Kim will have missed in some time. If you already told me, I forgot.
As for my Avatar, I'm glad you like it, but I'm not real thrilled with it. The resolution is terrible! I have very little experience manipulating digital photos. Initially it was a 1 mb pic that I edited down to about 15 kb (using the simple MS Photo Editor) so I could use it as an Avitar (max is 20 kb). However, everyone else's Avatars are a lot clearer. Do you have any idea why this is? Is it because mine is only 15 kb and not the max 20 kb? All I did to get it there was start with the original image and shrink it by 50% a number of times until it got to its present size. Anyway, I took a number of pics at the same time - of my 996 Cab by itself (mainly for use in selling it), of the GT2 by itself and of the twins together. I'll send you the one in the Avatar, but let me know if you want any of the others. There are about 25 in total.
