No one said that it couldn't be driven in the snow. I took issue with your claim that that was what it was intended for. Obviously not.
Not sure I'd choose a Hummer. That's so American. But it is a complete joke to claim that a 911/964/993/996/etc. are ideal for snow driving. There are many more cars better suited (and no, they aren't SUV's).
Very sad day today. I had to remove my CD plates from the Porsche. I'm still crying. Oh well, maybe Thanksgiving in Connecticut will make me feel better.
Nice phto Pat. Since What has a thing for irrelevant photos, how about this one?

No one said the car was intended to be driven in the snow. Just meant to be driven in general rather than used as a coffee table. If you'd rather drive a different vehicle in the snow, so be it. But, I think it is fair to let others use their cars as they wish.
Thanks for your note. BTW: I am actually looking into undercoating the car. And, the real reason I am driving through the winter is because I promised my wife that if she let me get the car (I traded a Suburban) I would not need an inclement weather car - the gt3 would serve as a do-everthing workhorse. It is a bit of a story - the short version is that our local dealership couldn't get me a gt3 and so they tried to push me to get a turbo - saying that a gt3 would be a poor choice - they said that a gt3 is really only for the guy that would track it and since I already have a track car it would be redundant. My wife bought their logic - it did make sense afterall. I, however, really wanted a gt3.

Who in their right mind is ever going to let me tell them what to drive?
Oh, I think every one of us has at some point in our lives ended up driving a verhicle that is less than optimal for whatever conditions we are in. There are lots of reasons for this. But I thought Pat's to be better that most!

well said vast fixed wing conspiracy!
after all you're driving a car with the DEVIL's brakes, PCCB!
Just came across this old thread. Patk was a good friend of mine. He sold me this car in 2009 with 81k (Year-round) miles. Pat indeed drove it as his ONLY car, year-round, in MN. It now lives in CA with another RL member. No rust or corrosion and now about 113k miles!

Amazing there is no rust or corrosion. How was it maintained to avoid that?
These cars (and all 996s, probably more) were galvanized as a tub, so if you keep salt off them they are pretty rust resistant. Like a good gate frame. I tracked mine in the rain all the time and never worried about rust.
j/k. I hd a 280ZX when I was attending University of Denver that was my first choice when it snowed, even over my CJ5 that seemed to be a magnet for curbs, trees, clumps of snow & ice, etc etc etc
