Expensive modification! He just did what should have been done in the first place! "Porsche are you listening"??!!

I wonder how this will effect its value down the road?

Probably would increase its value given that it appears the swap was done very professionally.

The entire thread is in the 991 GT3 forum, excellent read if you have not done so already.

In 20 years, how many people will even know how to drive a stick? I applaud the conversion though!

Two "GO/NO GO" requirements for my 996. Had to be a cab and had to have a 6 speed stick.

Got both and couldn't be happier!

I love the manual transmission, too. Certainly for the 996. The 996 Tiptronic is for the birds. However, the 991 PDK is a whole different animal, not to be confused with the 996 Tiptronic. Lots of arguments both ways when it comes to the current PDK. IMO the Porsche engineers summarized it well. If you drive in the city mostly, get the PDK. If you like driving down canyon roads and up and hills and scenic back roads, get the manual. If you like the best performance and drive on the track, get the PDK.

20 years ???
I had a valet few weeks back that had to pass on driving my M5 because he was a bitch that couldn't drive a stick. I got a good laugh out of that and was happy he didn't try to learn.

They took OEM ecu programming from the 991R to remap the GT3RS. Pretty extensive process, I thought it was cool they had access to the R's programming though.

Yup, a hotel valet in Nashville told me it was probably a better idea for me to park my E39 myself because he didn't want to try. At least he was forthcoming about it...

Pretty cool mod! 😍

Almost like a middle finger to Porsche AG

I recognise a lot of it from my Tiptronic to manual conversion. Okay this is another league of complexity, but in the basis it is the same.

Most crucial is the reprogramming of all the different control units. Installing the new parts is just extensive wrenching.
