Default Rebuilding and painting caliper. What did you on the 4th weekend?

Decided to start my caliper paint and rebuild project as I didn't have any plans for the long weekend. Glad I did as one piston on each side of the rear was jambed and even with a compressor I could' get them out. Had to boil the caliper to heat it up before they popped out. Rear pads were wearing uneven.

now it's literally waiting for paint to dry

Up on stands
Popping seals and pistons
First coat of paint

Looks like you have been productive. I did alot of driving. 200+ miles on Saturday alone. Also replaced the driver's side front wheel well arch adn the right front inner CV joint boot on my C4 Cab.

Cheers to independence.

Nice! Always little things to replace with older cars.

Arggg! So the clear coat ate thru two parts that were not completely dry. Guess I'll have to sand and redo these sections. Lesson learned, wait until the paint is fully cured before clear

Tony, are those gauge faces decals? What a difference, you should post some pics of how they look in the dark...

I like the contrast those gauge faces provide. Well done and lesson learned on the brakes.

Typically you can clear within 1 hour of the base coat or after 7-10 days. You obviously landed in the realm in between which is a no no... Nice effort though.

thanks, they're inexpensive so you can buy a few colors to see what works.

Today I built a ramp for my deck stairs so my aging dog (she'll be 16 next month) can get to the back yard without being carried. Not a car project, but I'm sure all you dog owners can relate.

Tony and Dion -- nice job on the gauges and brakes, respectively!

I can respect that. Our Yorkie is 15 and certainly can't jump on the bed no more.
