Yeah...Porsche tax...big time! I was thinking if you were going to splice one of the "connector, plug socket or cylindrical sockets" was what you needed rather than the whole deal.

The other day, my toddler busted out her plastic tools and started wrenching on her cozy coupe because her car wasn't feeling well. Gee, I wonder where she got that from.

If you want to feel better about the 996, try buying a 928.

No worries, cheap fix for $28! Much easier to replace the whole harness than cutting and splicing and making a mess!

Once you've got the panel off 3/4 of the work is done.

And I got the codes scanned for the airbag, Passenger seat belt and power supply.

Replace seat belt buckle?

Also had 6 codes for security system, might be why my Duramteric wont connect to the car. But then again.....why would every other type of scanner work? I dotn really give a **** about the security codes, they dont produce idiot lights. lol

I understand how you feel with the constant repairs. This is the reason that I sold my 996; the repair bills kept getting bigger and more frequent.

So, are you saying that the noise in the video is like yours? Or, is that actually your car? The strange thing is that you originally said your car made the noise when going from forward or neutral to reverse. The video shows the axle being pulled away from the transmission...

You replied in the wrong thread. I know I have many. My car is a POS. Lol

that's my car on the hoist. And yes it still makes that noise going forward to reverse.

Oops! Sorry about that...I think I can chalk it up to this "updated" format where one thread scrolls right into another "related thread"...

Currently:

* The ABS/PSM light is firing again, intermittently, due to...
* Third taillight needs replacing (currently, just a cut wire back there)
* My cluster tries to catch fire if I use the headlights
* I screwed up one of the LCD polarizing filters when I was dicking with the cluster.
* Still missing a side marker.
* Judging by the god-awful alternator whine, it's probably time for a new alternator or voltage regulator
* One of the mufflers is coming apart internally and occasionally rattles like a ****.
* Driver-side window regulator cable needs to be replaced (or repaired).
* I pushed the sunroof switch partially up into the console.

And - dammit - I still can't stomach the idea of getting rid of this car.

the connector broke in half and as you can see someone tried gluing it or something. anyone know where I can find these connectors?

You can cut it and solder a new connector on it.
