Default changing wheels, need help with fit, i dont understand it

So I would like to change my rims. I'm looking on ebay, and I see rims that read 18x8.75 +35 5x100. what does it mean? what is the offset and what does that mean? I'm assuming the 8.75 is the width?

I have a MY03 996 C2. What is the stock size of the rim, width and offset? are all 4 rims the same size?

Here is what i'm talking about for example. I like the way this looks. Would this fit on my car without having to do or add or modify anything else? (i.e. spacer, etc).

thanks in advance!

best fitment guide I've found

http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/inf..._chart/porsche

this should help with offsets

https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?whe...=30mm&scl=20mm

or here

http://www.willtheyfit.com

all 996's are 5 x 130mm bolt pattern

so then when would i need to add a spacer? what if i get different offsets? whats the advantage or disadvantage? looking at the porsche fitting site, I see that i can have an offset of 40 or 50. what happens if i go above or below?

For your car, the original equipment wheels are probably as follows:

The front wheels are 18" diameter, 8" width, and 50 offset.
The rear wheels are 18" diameter, 10" width, and 65 offset.

The 5 bolts that attach the wheels to the car are equally spaced around a 130mm circle. You'll see this written as 5x130.

Offset is often abbreviated as ET. So, the 50mm offset of your front wheels is often abbreviated as ET50.

Put all that together and your front wheels are 18x8, ET50, 5x130. The rears are 18x10, ET65, 5x130. Wheels that adhere to these dimensions should fit your car. That isn't to say that others won't, but you need to know the original equipment specification in order to figure out what will or won't fit.

Others here can explain the vagaries of fit, spacers, and how to use the willtheyfit Web page (which is very helpful for this sort of thing). Also, learn to search (use Google with the "site:Rennlist.com" qualifier) -- there are lots of wheel-related threads out there
