Bose Radio 2003 C4S

That's scary.
I have the Hi-Fi in my Boxster S with the additional 4 rear speakers, and it sounds really bad.
People have good opinions on the Bose system. I haven't seen one yet working at high volume.
How do you rate it from 1-10?
Can you please rate any other factory car installed stereo?
Thanks

I haven't read the manual (never do), tell me if I need to know anything good. My 2003 Targa has the BOSE system, I have had good luck with it so far. As with most stereos, try running the treble up to 7/8, the base to 4/5/6, and the fade to 3/4/5 to the rear (it is up to you). These seem to help a car system sound better (for the driver), do we really care about anyone else?

Subs are too muddy and overpowering, a bad combo. I turn the loudness OFF, and even have the bass settings in the negative. Treble I up up a bit. Still not great, but not bad.
Best sound system upgrade has been PSE. I rarely have the radio on anymore.

'04 c4sc. The speakers sound a lot better with my new amp and the equalization abilities of the pioneer. If I were doing 12k+ miles a year, I'd upgrade the speakers too. I mainly did this for the nav (pioneer head unit w/ motorized screen can't hook up with a MOST amp), the sound was a side benefit.
BTW, I have the cd changer for sale if anyone cares.

The Bose in my cab is decent...
but the HK Logic 7 system in my E500 SHAMES the Porsche system. It's not even funny.
For CD's here's what I use in general:
Loudness OFF.
Bass at -3 or -4
Treble at 0.
Fader and balance centered.
If you can't find settings that "work" for you, feel bad for 2 seconds, drop the windows, and enjoy the F-6!

Wheat,
How much for the CD Changer? PM me.
I will say this about the Bose system, it greatly depends upon the source material. Most people wrongly assume all CD's are created equal, they aren't. I have some selections that sound fabulous in the 996 with the BOSE, others that sound like garbage and I have found this to be true of any other car stereo system I've ever tested. Basically, you have to find settings you like for "general purpose" playing and choose the source material that sounds best in that particular environment.
