That is not true at all.

My car would sometimes smoke on cold start up, but it never ever smoked while it was warm. I could start and stop it 100 times while that motor was warm and 0 smoke. I tracked my car with cylinder 4 & 6 absolutely toast - 0 smoke. On long, hwy trips the car would barely burn oil.

This is my motor, Cylinder 4 & 6 are done - as you can see:

That 1st video has noise that is consistent with a scored cylinder. The 2nd video isn't being pointed in the right direction to capture the noises from the cylinder.

Unless he has opened up the sump and scoped from the bottom, I would not believe anything this tech says. i've been through this - if you have the chance to do it - walk away - or be prepared to spend $20K + for a proper rebuild.

I'm not trying to scare you but like I said, I've been in your shoes and If I was there listening to that motor knock like that, I'd be walking away.

I swear I'm not a fear mongerer but I feel like I have been here the last couple of weeks...lots of videos of unhealthy motors being posted

Just make sure you get someone to drop the sump and don't sign anything before you confirm some things.
Good luck and keep us posted.

at this point, it doesn't matter what these "specialists" say. you need a shop to open the sump plate and look at the bottom on the cylinders, thrust side.

if they don't find any scoring, I am wrong and this is good. oh, how I always hope I am wrong!!
