Hey guys I recently bought a 2001 Carrera and I want to make sure what engine does it has. The manuals talk about a 3.4 engine and a 3.6 engine. Is there a way to identify if the engine is 3.4 or 3.6. If so please let me know so i can identify and be sure of what I have. I will appreciate the orientation.

I'm pretty sure only the Turbos were 3.6L in 2001.

For 996, MY1999-2001 were 3.4L and MY02-05 were 3.6L.

In case your engine was replaced, just check the left cam cover from the rear wheel well. If you see "Variocam F1" printed on the cover, that's a 3.4
