Default Experience with LSD (Torque Bias Differential)

Recently I rebuilt my motor. I also took advantage of the moment and installed a Torque bias differential.

Since Ive been driving my C2 I can feel the rear wheels much more planted. More traction. BUT, it locks up too much I believe. Parallel parking the car is now much more difficult.

Also, on tight corners the car has excessive understeer. I have to go very carefully. The diff seams to be locked up most of the time. Moving slowly and turning sharp the inside wheel skips and the car struggles with the diff resistance.

Ive never had a Torque bias differential before in a car so I dont know how it should feel. Do they need to break in to loosen up? Is this how a Quafe Torque bias diff acts?

I find this quite odd...not very Quaife-like at all. Actually, it sounds more like a locker or welded diff, just like you described. You really shouldn't feel much of a difference with TBDs until you're starting to drive the car harder in corners.

While I'm in no way, shape or form a transmission specialist, maybe that the diff was incorrectly installed? If I'm not mistaken, one has to pay close attention to backlash, bearing preload and all that stuff when installing diffs in these cars...

Thanks. I also suspect the diff was not properly installed. It definetly feels locked at all times.

Is there somewhere where I can find out how to correctly install it?

Thanks.

I would check with the manufacturer or whoever you bought it from (shop/retailer?)
