Default A pool of red...

First time I had her out in a month, I came home and parked her. When I went out to get back in to go to dinner there was a pool of red underneath the rear tires. I had no warning lights on before I parked. I assume it is tiptronic transmission fluid and that I should have it towed to the shop immediately? Does anyone have any ideas on what it is most likely and how much it will be too fix it? Thanks for your advance.

No clue, but I would have it flat-bedded to a transmission shop recommended by your Indy. Most Indys won't work on Tiptronics but probably have a trusted shop in that business. Could also be power steering fluid so don't rush to judgement.

Had the same thing happen to me while the car was just sitting. Time to pin/weld the lines.

I didn't think of that. It could be old coolant.

What is the best way to determine if it is coolant or transmission fluid?

I believe they're both red/pink and slick to the touch. I'm guessing the best way is to get it on a lift and see where the leak is coming from. With the 996/997, the most likely source is a coolant line leak.

In words of Dom Toretto..."If you can't tell a difference between coolant and ATF you don't belong in your car."

Look on the coolant tank, see the color and type of fluid there. Most likely your coolant tank popped and pissed all over the driver's side rear tire.

Coolant has sweet smell to it while ATF is kind of rank. Looks like coolant to me.

Isn't pinning the lines a turbo, GT2 and GT3 fix?

OP car is a C4S which has the standard M96 engine no need to pin the lines.

M96 has plenty of other MOF...

The leak was originating right in the middle of the car, about a few inches before the centerline of the rear wheels.

Just smell it and check coolant tank for color or empty. There are water lines running from front to back. Under shields could redirect any water leak many places.
