Default Pioneer 8000 NEX firmware update

My car's PO had a Pioneer 8000NEX stereo installed. Pioneer came out with two firmware updates one for the actual system (gives Apple Carplay) and one for the bluetooth. The stereo does not recognize the system update but bluetooth update went easy. I called the Pioneer helpline and the girl was useless. I called a local install dealer and they said they will not touch the firmware.

I thought I would take a shot and see if anyone else has this stereo and did the update. Otherwise, I will give the helpline another try Monday and maybe get someone with a little knowledge.

TIA

Tom

BTW here is a pic of it in the dash. To me it was a nice modern addition to a 12 year old vehicle. However, I would really like to get Apple Carplay working.

United Airlines took the quick course in customer support from Pioneer and are just a shadow of their teachers. Nothing good comes from Pioneer Customer Support. They are even worse if your unit is under warranty. Their Nav system crashes. Took them 8 months to replace mine under warranty. You buy their stuff and are on your own. Have to work with what you got. I have an 8100 and they have never fixed the bugs in the software. Volume drops and volume control freezes intermittently after voice updates. Resetting the unit corrects it but is a pain to do. Wastes 30-45 min of your day.

What type of USB stick are you using? On the SanDisk, they have a Recycle Bin that can cause issues. Try with another USB stick.
