Rear Wing Goes Up Fine - But Down 1cm
Hi,
The rear wing my 996 cabrio goes up perfectly fine.
However on going down, it moves about 1cm then stops.
When its up, if I press the down button (in the drivers footwell) then have something give it a constant, slight push it retracts completely.
I'm wondering as it goes up ok, it appears the motors fine, however why won't it go down without having to push it along?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You need to drive the car to over 50mph, then when you slow down it should fully retract. If you don't get up over 50mph, it will stay in the up position.
Mine did the same thing. Lift manually via footwell button, but it won't retract until you drive it as described above.

So you're saying, the steps are:
- Drive away with the wing up (to take down I need to push it myself).
- Drive >50mph
- And it should go down.
Whats interesting is, the last time I pushed it down, I took it for a drive, went >60mph, then when I got to my destination it was still up.

I just Rennfaxed a Targa for someone that acted the same way. As we have a fixed wing I didn't know how it was supposed to act.
Pressed the button and it popped up, but wouldn't go back down. When I got back from the test drive, however, it was down again. I didn't get up to 50 though (maybe 40) due to only being able to take it up and down the street.

That is the correct function. Twice I inadvertently pressed the up button while resting my left leg on the dead pedal when I first purchased the car. When I stopped the car my spoiler was still up and I had to lower it manually. After reading the owners manual I saw this is how it is designed. One of the other members posted that on track days he does this so there is no lag in the opening of the spoiler.
