suspension and wheels
After staring at the coilovers, sway bars, drop links and rear toe control arms sitting in the garage for way too long, I finally got around to installing them! It still needs an alignment, corner balance, and final ride height adjustment, but I couldn't resist cleaning it up for a few pics.
Also mounted up the Carrera II wheels that I've had for even longer than the suspension... and they look amazing! I need to get some fresh rubber on them so I can retire those 17" boat anchors.
Two remaining questions:
1- Ride height: how low is too low on the street? The front is at ~4.25" right now, and the back is about 5".
2- Those wheels need refinishing: silver or black? I'm leaning towards black. I like them both, but black does a better job masking brake dust.
Refinished calipers look good, too
With the 17" wheels

Congrats on the install! I'm a fan of black with the silver, obviously.
Your ride height is as low as you would want to go for even track usage. You will have to take speed bumps and ramps at an angle but it's doable. Just see if it bugs you but it wouldn't hurt to raise it an inch. It will also make it easier on the alignment shops.

How about a titanium or anthracite finish? That might look good.

Silver...black is overdone. Too low is when you can't get in the driveways you need to get in and out of, and it is uncomfortable to drive on the streets you need to drive on.

I like the silver finish also. I am a little biased though, my car was identical until I added aero pieces. It looks to me like it needs a little more drop in the rear to even it out a bit.

Doesn't look low to me. Black wheels look terrible. def spacers on the lightweight 5 spokes. .5 to .75 agreed rake. Drop at good Indy for chassis setup and pay them accordingly.

I've got an appt for next Wed to have the suspension properly adjusted. Will ask their opinion regarding height and general alignment settings.
In the pics above, the wheels do have spacers. 5mm all around.
I saw a 996 AE on the road today, and the 'hyper silver' wheels looked really nice. I'll probably end up flipping a coin between silver and black...
