Default How to stream Amazon Music

Looking for a recommendation for what brand of unit I can plug into my lighter find a weak FM signal and stream Amazon thru my stereo that way. My head unit is a CDR220 and my car has the Bose optic crap so my head unit is staying put.

Use a wired in-line FM transmitter...the sound quality is much better than the wireless versions.

Example:

This is how I connected a JVC head unit to my Boxster, and just used the 986's stock system for the amp and speakers.

The link above is Sirius/XM only, I thin, powers on with the power button from the device. You need a universal one with RCA or 3.5mm input. This one is neat (if you would want to install it) as it will also charge a USB device (you still connect the audio through the headphone jack on your device to the 3.5mm input). I think most universal ones will require you to mount an on/off switch somewhere.

Any reason you don't want to use the CDR220 AUX cable? Cheaper and the sound quality would be better.

Then go bluetooth to AUX would potentially cost less than the transmitter.

I've got one of the cheap $20 blue-tooth units. It's not "great" but it works for phone calls and music... I can't imagine you can hear all that much detail in your car at highway speeds (at least I can't in my car with Fabspeed Maxflows on it) so your return on investment is going to be limited by that... good luck

I would go this route, too. But if you're streaming directly from your smartphone you could just use the little plug, no bluetooth needed, right?

Correct, you can go from the aux cable directly into your phone. The Bluetooth is just handy because your don't need to plug it in. Both methods will achieve the same thing.

There is also an itransit unit that goes from the CDR22 to bluetooth.

I'd definitely recommend wiring directly into the amp using the aux cable. The sound quality is substantially better than using and FM transmitter. Obviously it is a bit more work since you need to buy the cable and slide the radio out (etc) to install.

If you'd like wireless I'd recommend this bluetooth adapter. I'm using it in my BMW and it does exactly what I want it to. It automatically reconnects when powered on which means I don't need to enable anything when jumping into the car. Sound quality is excellent.

That ^ is what I put in my 997. It gives me hands-free phone, and lets me stream music (I use Spotify) and also turn-by-turn GPS commands from my iPhone. The commands interrupt music streaming, and then the music starts up where it left off. It goes in series with the antenna, so no matter if there's a radio station on the same frequency, the Bluetooth unit will cancel it out with no interference. I needed an additional antenna adapter for mine as the PCM doesn't use a Motorola plug, but I'm not sure about the OEM 996 Bose units.

The aux input is mono, not stereo
