Good stuff

No.5 - what is this - "Most kits will also include updated 997 oil return tubes to get oil back to the pan as quick as possible." - that's a new one on me.

I'm always a little shocked when I hear some of my Pcar friends talk about oil change intervals.

"I just had the oil done about 3k miles ago so it should last me a few more months."

When was that?

"Last July."

What.

I don't get it. Too soon, or too late?

He means 997 pick up tubes. They are a better design than the 996 version. Nothing earth shattering .Obviously they are extended also.See the photos of "Technosump" for more.

Yes i searched pics after to see what they meant. I see 2 long black tubes in the pic but had not seen them installed in pics.
It's for the return to the sump, so wondered what made them better - longer - larger diameter etc.

Thx.

Maybe, if you reject the notion that 0w-40 is meant for colder climates, which imply running in cold temps. Which implies a rejection of cold wx scoring as posited by JR in the general theory of m96 reliability

late, idea is to change @ 3k or 6 months, whichever comes first.

In theory, they reduce foaming. They are inexpensive ,so why not?

I thought I read somewhere on here that C4S had a different oil pan, but can't find that thread....
