Mystery push button with pics
I discovered this push bottom under a cover by my wipers. I have not found any info on the web so I am hoping someone here recognizes it. I badly want to press it of course, to see what happens. I have resisted so far, but I am getting weaker. 2004 996 Targa

For towing your car... Puts the Porsche in "transport mode" and only Porsche can reset it. It allows the car to be locked but doesn't cause the car to set off the alarm from motion in tow and minimizing battery drain by restricting current draw from electrical components.

I believe it's just a stud and nut holding down that plastic cowling strip.
(I'm just saying that to keep you from pushing that button. You don't really want to know what happens if you push it)

In fact, take a video of you pushing it. Then keep recording while you enter the car and see if anything is different. If the dome lights don't come on, then... it's Porsche tax time!

Every time you press that button the arc that the wipers wipe clocks 1 degree towards the driver side. Depress it for 5 seconds and they rotate 1 degree the other way. Makes it so your can be adjusted to cover as much of your sight lines as possible.
