Several months ago I removed the Fabspeed cold air "upgrade" (The cheap one which I believe does not affect the stock MAF) and returned it to stock. Unfortunately it had no effect on this cold start smoking issue...

When you drive your car, do you drive it very aggressively?

And did you get to driving it really, and drive it long, like take it out for a weekend and drive 500 miles one way, and 500 back the next day, preferably on a "long and winding road" (and yes, you can sing along!!!!). It sounds (given the mileage sofar) that your car never got the chance to really warm up.
