Fabspeed woes

So your point is that your experience with Fabspeed has absolutely nothing in common with or is even obliquely related to OP's complaint.

Merely pointing out that he's not the first one that has had some issue with Fabspeed. I'm not saying they're a "bad" company, but perhaps for the price they ask they could improve their focus on quality.

And so the student becomes the teacher...
The point I was making is that Fabspeed may be a decent company, but I question their customer service practices and now it seems others question their quality.
Maybe try to troll less and understand more and this forum can be returned to its former glory.

And it's going to be a beautiful wall, trust me.
And Stuttgart is going to pay for it!

A little Public service announcement...
I copped the intake upgrade hose on the cheap from ebay. The seller didn't sell the caron fiber plug that needs to be installed with it though so I called Fabspeed to order the plug. After I was placed on hold for 5 mins they quoted me $70 for the part. Ok...whatever. I get it..rip me off because I didn't buy the whole unit. I ended up paying for the part, but my mechanic found a Porsche OEM plug that fit exactly into that open space on the airbox. Cool! A Porsche part AND I can save $70!!! Sweet.
Well, I called Fabspeed to return it and at first they gave me a hard time, but eventually gave me an RMA# to return it. They said that they will need to charge me 20% "restocking fee"..again..ok..fine.
I sent the part back and they got right back to me within a business day. AWESOME! Great service... I got the credit receipt back and they ended up charging me more money than the 20% they already quoted me. When I inquired they now said in addition to the "restocking fee" I was all of the sudden responsible for a "handling fee" of $10. What?!?!? At this point it was all about sales and customer service so I sent a response back to the Rep and the GM that I am still waiting for them to respond to. I don't get how this company just decided to tax me so heavily for a return.
My complaint isn't just about the money, but I was looking forward to working with them on different upgrades I was considering for my car once I put it on the track and understood how I wanted it to drive so this purchase was just a test buy, but I don't think I'll be back.
Just wanted to pass my experience to the forum. They have a good reputation, but they lost this guy for good.

1. You stated that you were on hold for 5 minutes while you were quoted the part. I had never had to break up our Cold Air Intake Kit before which consists of two products...a silicone hose and the referenced plug for a total MSRP of $245. We typically do not break apart this package, as how would we sell just the silicone hose without the plug? For you I got approval to do so, and it was determined that if I was to break up this package the plug itself is worth $50 plus $10 shipping and PA sales tax of 6%. Your order came to $63.60. To figure all this out, I did have to place you on hold for a time while I sorted it all out.
2. For your reference, here is our terms and conditions page from our website, as well as excerpts from it to help you understand the calculations of payment.
"RESTOCKING FEES
Fabspeed Motor sport reserves the right to charge a 25% restocking fee on any opened box item.
"SHIPPING & HANDLING
Fabspeed Motorsport reserves the right to charge a handling fee on every order being shipped from our facility. This fee is universal and applies to all retail and wholesale purchases and cannot be waived or credited.
A 6% sales tax will be implemented for every purchase made by a Pennsylvania resident. This fee will be charged for in-house installations and products purchased online, over the phone, and/or via email, this fee is non-negotiable and non-refundable."
As we do not refund for shipping/handling/sales tax, the only thing in contention for a refund with the 25% restock fee is the $50 for the product. $50 x .75 = $37.50. Brian in customer service not only followed proper company policy but also went as far as to reduce that restocking fee to 20% for you and included the sales tax for that $40 as well. $50x.8=$40x1.06=$42.40. We sent back $43 to you. Also, there was no additional charge for a $10 handling fee as I didn't charge you for that on your initial order. However we did not refund the $10 charge for ground shipping on your order as we are not responsible for that.
At the end of the day, I apologize for any miscommunication throughout the return process. The last thing I want to happen is to lose a client. It looks bad to the company and myself, despite following all of our company policies to the "T". This morning was the first time I was even aware of the situation in seeing this thread, know that I am only a phone call away and will do everything I can to make you happy and move forward with a positive relationship between yourself and Fabspeed.
