996 convertible top electrical power issue? Low system voltage on occasion?
My 2001 Porsche 996 convertible has an electrical issue I would love some thoughts on:
1. On occasion the convertible top button clicks, but the top doesn't move.
2. Simultaneously, the back-up camera screen flickers. This runs through the stereo head-unit, but notably, no other stereo or head-unit electronics are effected.
Seems like a drop in system voltage, causing both to fail.
I'm not an electrical guy, so not sure what to do but to bring to local porsche mechanic. But i'd rather chase this down and think about it as much as possible so as to narrow down the potential issues before i spend that money.
Any thoughts?

I cannot stress this enough. Make sure your battery is fully charged as THAT could be your problem. If the battery is 4 years old then change it for a new one. Pep Boys sell Bosh Batteries for just over $100. This is the first summer in 5 years that my cab top has worked first time, every time. I solved my problem by patience and hours of reading these forums. Start with the battery. If it doesn't work via the dash button, try the key in the drivers door, holding the key to the left for down and right for up.
