Default In need of a torque value to apply.

I've been having trouble finding the torque value for bolt #7 which is one of two that holds one half of the 996 motor to the crankcase piston rod and bearings assembly. Does anyone in the RL wealth of technical knowledge know the torque specified in the maintenance manual? Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

You should pic up a copy of "Fastening Specifications, Porsche 911 (996) Automobile" from The Knowledge Gruppe.

According to page 15 it is the "Crankcase to bearing housing" bolt and requires 22nm (16 ft-lb).

Edit: Woohoo!! I got to use the book and be helpful for a change!

normally if you cant find a torque spec, you use the spec for the bolt size. find anywhere in torque spec for ( 8MM bolt ) example

Be sure head bolts are torqued 1st before torquing that bolt.
