2005 C4S rough ride
Look, I know I'm getting old but should my 53k mile 4S being rattling my teeth(my original teeth)? I realize the streets in the midwest are not the best for sporty cars, but I'm just trying to figure out how taunt the ride should be. I have owned sports cars most of my life and know they don't ride like "My Father's Oldsmobile". Winter is coming when I park it and wondering if there suggestions for projects to make it a better ride. I do not track nor play pylon tag. It's just my "Happy" car. I believe the suspension to be stock and maybe original so perhaps some parts are tired.
Thoughts...beside buying a Camry!

if you haven't changed any suspension bits lately....how old are your tires....how many miles on them? are tire's pressure correct? Old tires tend to get harsh/noisy....

agree with the tyre pressures. Dont know how long you have owned the car for, but check to see if the engine mounts have been upgraded to solid state ones. quite a common mod here in the uk. and it makes the ride very sporty. normally the car interior shakes a little on idle if they have been upgraded.
I would try for a full alignment/geometry, wheel balance, and tyre pressure check before digging deeper.

I own a 03 c4s with 11k miles. Had original tires until I changed to Michelin pilot sports
Made huge diff in ride but the 4s does ride tight. It's a track ride for sure. Little harsh at times but that's the nature of it. For the most part harsh in road bumps etc but other wise not bad. It also have a 15 corvette and that ride is phenomenal compared to the Porsche

Wild Bill, you mean you didn't get the Porsche mouth piece option? And I echo most of these comments here on this thread... that is, if you don't have tires on your car, the ride will definitely be rough; plus, it can destroy a good set of rotors (metal on road = teeth rattle). So please go back into the garage and put the tire back on the car and then report back to us, ok?

Ok I knew I should have added more details: Stock 18 Turbo twists with Bridgestone Potenza SO-2As less than 2 years old and under 2000 miles. Air pressure reduced 2#'s in front and 4#'s in rear. Engine mounts appear to be of stock type. I do have new OEMs to install this winter even though tail pipes are even and with very little sag. When I bought the car in 2014 first thing I did was new tires-balanced and four wheel alignment. On really harsh bumps there is a clunk from the right rear, might look harder in that area.
b3: I will check SunCoast parts for the optional Porsche OEM mouth piece. I knew the previous owner was holding out on something! Do I have to buy the gold plated version? Tires? We don't got no tires! We don't need no stinkin tires!
Appreciate the suggestions!

Stock suspension? It might be worth a look under the car to verify - the coilover setup my car came with was fully adjustable, and it was set to be VERY tightly sprung. After I relaxed the coilovers a little, the ride quality improved drastically.

AND I have been looking at this same issue of ride comfort. I went with bigger Pilot Supper Sports, and while they have taken the edge off somewhat, the ride is still "tight". I was told to not fix my suspension, as my old springs/shocks might be a better ride than stock.
I have been investigating new shocks (Bilstien B4) or PSS10. I am inclined to go PSS10 because coil-over, but it is a lot of money to shell out without KNOWING that the comfort settings will be actually comfortable.

Clunks from the suspension are commonly the drop links. They are cheap parts and easy to install. Next up are the rubber isolators that clamp the sway bars.
Noises are sending you a message, usually fix me.

Check your shocks/struts....if they are shot, it could lead to your symptoms...worn engine mounts can give the same symptoms...that is a lot of weight bouncing around when the mounts or suspension goes....how many miles on it?

This is what I am thinking. Mine rides very smooth for a sports car. If I heard a clunk, i would find it. Similar mileage to the OP, bone stock c4.
