Default Transmission plug torque specs

Does anyone know for a fact what the torque specs are for the transmission oil drain and filler plugs on a 996 manual six speed? Mine is specifically a 1999 996 C2, though I'm sure the spec is the same for all 996's. Please only answer if you are absolutley positive. I have gotten some conflicting info in looking this up, so I just want to be sure.

That would indicate that it's 30 Ftlbs which I believe to be correct, but the Porsche parts dept. told me it's 18 Ftlbs, so now I'm wanting to confirm. Considering that the engine oil plug is 37 Ftlbs, 18 seems wrong, but I can't get them to answer the phone to confirm. Thanks for the post. I think 30 is right.

Well, are you going to believe the Porsche Workshop manual or the parts guy? There is nothing to confirm.

Speaking of torque:
An interesting aside based on the 2 gearboxes I currently have on my bench - when planning to replace the transmission oil - remove the fill plug first !
Why? because it may be unbelievable tight.
Why? Because it has a taper at the base of the threads and it may corrode in place.
So ? If you remove the drain plug(easy) but you later discover you can't remove the filler plug ............. There is a solution but that is another thread.

The pelican DIY indicates 18 ft-lb for the manual transmission plugs. That gear oil is RIDICULOUSLY thick; you don't need crank down on them.

This is the value I used. My car has not leaked a drop in the 6 months since I did the work.

On an related note - DAMN is that stuff stinky. Jeez.

its pretty clear that it says 30nm(Newton meters) do the conversion to ft lbs... I think 18-19 ft lbs is correct...
