Considering Changing Seat Color

Considering Changing Seat Color
I've always lusted after an Arctic Silver 996 with Cork Leather interior (see 911 example). Classic9leathershop.com looks to be a first rate shop (opinions welcome) and I'm on the fence about the change.
I was considering replacing only the front and rear seat leathers and replace with cork color. The remainder of he interior would remain black.
Not sure if someone has done this or has a photo of a similar change in a 996/911.
Thanks in advance!

If you're going to spend the money on an interior overhaul, you might want to reconsider redoing the black carpet. Most of the black interiors are fading; you'll eventually have that almost-black-and-not-quite-purple color a few years down the road, which is going to detract from the appearance of your more recent seats...

Ive changed interior colors before and recolored/ renewed original colors. unless youve got a +$100,000 car and its going to shows I think you are wasting alot of money replacing leather. I would buy used seats and parts to put in a used car. It would be worn the same as it is now. But i probibly wouldnt be spending that money either because I would just recolor the seats/parts already in the car. All interior shops and all body shops know how to do it. Just find one that has experience and wants to do the job right.
Commonly use SEM or DuPont or Formula 40 leather and vinyl color and repaint it what ever color you want. Its the same as results that every interior shop in the world gets from recoloring. ( and its exactly the same technique as body painting, its all in the prep. The color must be stripped before coloring or it wont work)

If I was going to spend the money to properly reupholster the seats, I would want to dress up the rest of the interior as well. Black leather on the dash, maybe with some deviated stitching matching your new seat color, could DRASTICALLY improve the quality of the 996 cabin...

I like the idea I think darker the better though, I have seen some Cocoa seats that go well with silver IMO.
Start watching dismantlers sites, I believe PickNPull will let you set up an alert if they get certain cars into their yards I would think they are less desireable than basic black seats so you might buy and sell yours with a minimum outlay of $$$.
If you find some sand beige (more common but not dark enough for me) you might look into getting them spray dyed a few shades darker.

Sure, that picture you just posted looks good, but that's not even close to what you are talking about doing. You said that you were considering putting cork seats only in a completely black interior. The last picture you posted has a lot more beige leather than just seats...a lot.
