Sounds great! Let us know how it works out, ok? Also, do what you feel is right regarding the replacement of the front light enclosures. But I'd advise you to keep the OEM originals for the next owner. I'm kind of a stock kind of guy. I'm okay with well-made aftermarket solutions, but I prefer the original look. Unfortunately, there are no aftermarket front headlight enclosures for the Mk2 996 that are designed to match the OEM look and performance of the Litronics.

Oh for sure. I keep all the OEM parts. As for next owner, I will

Alpine, have you seen the current list price from Porsche for the OEM Mk2 HID headlight enclosures? It used to be about $2000 each and now I looked and the price was $2700 for ONE enclosure. Ouch!

Yeah Porsche is one of the few car companies that can keep raising parts prices on one of their most depreciating models, more so than even newer cars. This really makes me mad

The most prudent thing for someone wanting MK2 units if damaged is to buy used. If you want to upgrade existing mk2 lights, hitting up someone like ParticleWave would be the way to go to customize it and upgrade the projectors at the same time. That would be my reco...

No sh*t. I can walk into the Chevy dealership and pick up a sensor for an engine that has been out of production for 19 years and pay $20 for it...That same sensor in a "Porsche Classics" box would cost $200.

It also really grinds my gears that Porsche doesn't make any effort to provide short blocks - or even just engine cases - for the 996. "You own a Classic; we are dedicated to support it" - unless you need an engine.

I've been trying to warn the OP off of the "LED" headlights, but when you want something...
A quick Google search should bring up some further details I've posted on another site regarding their flimsy construction and inferior materials, but a person must be willing to do the searching and reading. I think OP may be a bit too excited about the car and mods to go that far.

My dual projector headlights

Nine8Six was supposedly making another run of the projectors, but he has disappeared again. I can't build headlights without projectors, so...
I'll probably be banned after this post, lol.

Is that you Particle Wave?

There are other projector options as the only thing you're getting with Nine8Six is the nice and customized projector shrouds. It doesn't really do anything for functionality but does have a cool style(I have one of his projector setups btw). There are many improved projectors out there that i can recommend if to those interested in doing it themselves.

Here's a MK2 modded lights:

Not over excited about the car lol. I've had it over 3 years now so not like I just started modding it...but you like what u like, whether style or performance, u like what u like. My car never sees rain, or dark for that matter. Like I said before, I've had this car 3 years, maybe used the headlights one time....I appreciate ur input, and I have don my research. Again not sure if I'm going to drop 3k on headlights. Someone else posted about tinting my current ones. I may not do anything at all. Just trying to do more research before I do anything really

My mistake...I apologize if I came across as an azz, I just really despise those headlights.

Below is a picture of a set that I installed a set of Nine8Six's projectors into for a Boxster owner. To be fair, I liked them at one point...then I disassembled that set to repair burnt out LEDs and install the projectors. I was not impressed.

You are absolutely correct.

His are very nice...CNC aluminum construction, laser scripting, color options...but there are alternatives that also look quite nice once installed.

That's it for me as I'm sure the mods will give me the axe. I never profited and just enjoy helping.

Best of luck OP!
