Shame about the Spyders, I do like the look of them. I've just replaced both third brake lights with LED, so at some point I should do the tails too.

I bought these (probably rebadged spyder) lights on Amazon

Redlines Red Clear LED Tail Lights for Porsche Carrera 996 99-04 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002UCYRPU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_007UxbB4GBJNA

They were plug and play and look much more period correct and looks less poseur than the 997.2 style lights

Probably the same process but the video is a 997 install, not 996. Also, didn't see any visible resistors...maybe not needed with these lights??

It's been documented several times on the forums that the Spyder taillights require resistors and also has a polarity issue with one of the connections one needs to be aware of. Nothing new here.

J, You made a smart decision going with the company Depo. Although some would wince thinking of buying a product out of Taiwan, but I've replaced two sets of headlight enclosures for both of my Volvos and the first set has outlasted the OEM version. Volvo uses Valeo out of France, but both OEM headlight enclosures started deteriorating within 3 years. The Depo version (which looks and performs like the OEM) has now made it four years and still looks clear and new.
